"From Vigeland Park to Sweden's Borders: A Friends' Trip Through the Pearls of Eastern Norway" Part1

27/02/2025

Comfort is from Kent, which is near London.

How we met:

We met when I was in Japan, on the group tour I went on, when she was in the same group. We were together for a while on the tour and after we got home, we kept in touch. Mostly over Instagram, on messages there. I've made a good friend!

When I was on Interrail in Europe, I chose to go to London to visit Comfort, it was really nice. She showed me around the whole city, took me to axe throwing, among other things. She recommended and ate at different restaurants and places. We talked, laughed and had a great time.

All in all an incredibly good, fun, educational and cozy experience.

Talked about visiting on Instagram

We also talked about her visiting me in Norway. Comfort didn't have Norway on her list so she just came to visit me which was really nice. But I wanted her to have a great experience and enjoy and like Norway to the fullest, so I tried to find places that interested her where she could see some nature, and that were close to where I live which is Hallingby.

Then she came to Norway, she stayed at the Klekken hotel during her stay. Klekken has a swimming pool, breakfast, and even though it's a little outside the city center, it's central. I had a car and we were together every day so there were no problems there.

Day 1:

A Friendly Welcome: A Day with Comfort

The big day was finally here, and I was supposed to pick Comfort up from Gardermoen. The trip took about an hour from where I live, and I couldn't wait to have her visit! I stood expectantly right outside the door where you come out after collecting your luggage. As soon as we saw each other, we said hello and gave each other a warm hug before walking to the car. We chatted, smiled, and had a really nice time the whole way. The first stop on our little excursion was Salt og Pepper, where we enjoyed a delicious meal together. The food was amazing, and it was so nice to share this time together. After dinner, I drove Comfort to Klekken Hotell, a charming place with a swimming pool and a good breakfast. After dropping her off at the hotel, I went home for the day.

Comfort remarked that we had dinner incredibly early in Norway. Is that really true? In my family, we eat dinner around 4 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner mostly consist of bread or crispbread, and occasionally hot food or leftovers from dinner. How is it with you? The reason I say that about breakfast and lunch, among other things, is that since Comfort said it was so early, we eat dinner twice because we eat dinner afterwards, I said it was more like two breakfasts. Do you agree with this? or is it like two dinners?

Day 2: Oslo: Sightseeing, Smash Room, Vigelandsparken

We drive to Kolsås, and park the car in the 24-hour free parking next to the subway. Before we take the subway further inland to Oslo. We start the day with sightseeing and a photo shoot where we see the castle and the city hall, among other things. Suddenly we are running out of time, time went by so incredibly fast. We had to rush back to the subway to get where we were going, then we had to take a bus to the next place, the last little bit we had to run. But we got there in the end, exactly 2 minutes over time. Phew.

We told the woman at the reception that we were there. Then we had to sign a check-off form that if anything happened to us they were not responsible ... etc. So we did it, put on protective gear and went into the room that was booked for us. Then we found out that the air conditioning was not working, so it was really hot in the room. We had chosen the Born to Rage package which lasts 40 minutes and costs 2850 Norwegian Kr. Since we had 40 minutes, and the air conditioning was not working, this was terribly tiring. Like a training session where we threw plates at the wall, threw electronics on the floor. Hit electronics and a big car with a bat, jack and other equipment. A good way to get some frustration out. It didn't help that the air conditioning wasn't working either, but it was so worth it because it was so much fun!!! When we were done, at least I was sweaty and bloody. I was so tired too. Talk about poorly trained hehe, this is like a real training session. We walked calmly to the bus and waited for it, the temperature outside was okay, but the wind in our hair was amazing! A lovely breeze.

We went on to Vigeland Park, a famous sculpture park in Frogner Park, Oslo.

Then we went to Vigeland Park, the one with all the statues. It is free to visit the park.

Vigeland Park, also known as Vigeland Park, is a famous sculpture park located in Frognerparken, Oslo. It is the world's largest sculpture park created by a single artist, Gustav Vigeland. The park has over 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron, all made by Vigeland himself. The park's highlights include the monolith, a towering structure carved from a single block of granite, and the fountain, which was originally intended to stand in front of the Storting. The park was mainly built between 1940 and 1949, but it represents over 40 years of Vigeland's work.

Comfort was surprised that all the statues were naked, she thought it was strange. The fact that she thought it was strange I thought was very funny. But I had actually not been to this park myself either, so I really had nothing to say about it. We walked around the park and took pictures, there was also a beautiful flower meadow there. Then we ate food, it was good. I don't remember exactly what we ate, but I think it was pasta or something. Then I probably had something with bacon because I think it's very good. Then we went home. Comfort to the hotel and I went home.

All in all, a great day with a nice visit and many experiences! <3
